Exactly one year ago, my husband and I celebrated our 30 years of marriage with a dream trip to Italy. It was a journey filled with history, breathtaking landscapes, and, of course, delicious food. We visited Milan, Venice, Florence, Vernazza in Cinque Terre, and Rome—each city with its own magic and charm.
We began our adventure in Milan, the fashion capital. The majestic Duomo Cathedral left us in awe, and a stroll through the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II allowed us to enjoy luxury and stunning architecture. We couldn’t miss the rich cuisine and the thick, delicious hot chocolate at one of the city’s traditional cafés.
In Venice, we let ourselves be carried away by the beauty of its canals and narrow streets. We explored St. Mark’s Square, the Bridge of Sighs, the Rialto Bridge and the unique and charming Libreria Aqua Alta (High Water Bookstore). The food was just as remarkable, with succulent dishes, exquisite bruschetta, and the classic tiramisu.
Florence captivated us with its art and history. The grandeur of the Duomo and the imposing Michelangelo’s David were just some of the highlights. We walked across the Ponte Vecchio and enjoyed the best pesto pasta and an exquisite cacio e pepe. We also visited the world’s oldest and most beautiful pharmacy and perfumery, Officina Profumo-Farmaceutica di Santa Maria Novella and the Leather School of Florence.
The colorful landscape of Cinque Terre left us speechless. We hiked the trails of Vernazza, soaking in spectacular views of the sea. We relaxed with the gentle sea breeze and savored an incredibly delicious focaccia and pizza. Every corner looked like something out of a postcard.
We ended our trip in Rome. Walking through the Colosseum, the Roman Forum, the Trevi Fountain and the Vatican. We indulged in authentic pasta and artisanal gelato while getting lost in streets full of history. The most iconic Roman dessert, maritozzi—a soft brioche bun filled with whipped cream—was an unforgettable treat.
Each city gave us unique moments and unforgettable memories. Celebrating our 30th anniversary in Italy was a magical experience we will cherish forever. Until the next adventure!
