Watching our son navigate an autocross course in his Miata has been one of the most rewarding experiences. His love for cars runs deep—just like his dad’s and grandpa’s—and it was clear early on that motorsports would be a big part of his life. As a child, he would be in the garage with his dad all the time working on the cars and learning to keep them neat and running smoothly.
At just 15, he bought his first car (the Miata) and with only a learner’s permit in hand, he took his first lap in autocross. He wasn’t just learning to drive; he was mastering the art of precision and control. His Miata wasn’t just a ride—it was his project. Every modification, every adjustment, he tackled himself, turning it into a true reflection of his passion and skill.
As parents, we’ve been there for every early morning race day, every tire swap, and every victory—big or small. His dedication and excitement remind us why we love this sport and seeing him carve his own path in the automotive world is something we couldn’t be prouder of.
His journey with cars and autocross has taught us valuable lessons:
- Passion Fuels Progress – When you truly love something, you’ll put in the time and effort to get better. His dedication to learning every aspect of his car and improving his driving proves that passion drives progress.
- Mistakes Are Part of the Process – In autocross, as in life, mistakes are inevitable. Whether it’s knocking over a cone or misjudging a turn, every error is an opportunity to learn and improve.
- Hard Work Pays Off – He didn’t just buy a car and start racing—he put in the work, modifying and fine-tuning it himself. Seeing the results of his effort on the track is a reminder that success comes from persistence.
- Support Makes a Difference – Our family’s encouragement has played a role in his journey. Knowing someone believes in you gives you the confidence to push forward.
- Enjoy the Ride – Whether he’s setting a personal best or just having fun behind the wheel, he reminds me that the joy is in the journey, not just the destination.
Watching our son grow through his passion for cars has been such a blessing. I thank God for allowing us to witness his growth, for keeping him safe on and off the track, and for the bond this sport has strengthened between us. Every turn he takes, every lesson he learns, is a reminder of God’s grace and the joy that comes from pursuing our passions.
